Fourth Place Overall at the SESC!!

Congratulations UM-ASCE members on your success at the 2010 ASCE Southeast Student Conference in Auburn, Alabama!  UM-ASCE competed in all 15 events at conference against 24 other schools and placed fourth overall.  The club won first place in surveying, second place in the crash competition, third place in the environmental competition, and third place in the visual display.   In addition, one of the biggest accomplishments this year was UM-ASCE’s achievement of the Spirit Award.  No matter the outcome of a competition, it’s great to know that the members care so much and take such pride in their school.  Although the club did not have much success in the steel bridge or canoe competitions, great strides were made since last year and already there are plans to do even better next year.   The club as a whole would like to say thank you to all its members, the CAE faculty, our sponsors and anyone else that has helped make this year a success.

Concrete Canoe Poured!

We would like to thank everyone who came out on a Saturday to help with the pour!  Special thanks goes to UM ASCE Alumni Meghan Wells, Christian Aquino, Marco Osorio and Cristina Ortega for coming by and helping with the canoe.

We have the canoe poured, but much work remains as we approach the SESC!

Concrete Canoe Update
Welcome back to class! Over the break, the concrete canoe team was hard at work fabricating the form. Much work still has to be done, but special thanks goes to those who took the time out of their break to help construct an awesome mold! See the photo below:
